Response to music is informed by analyzing context (social, cultural, and historical) and how creators and performers manipulate the elements of music. Together our students investigate the historical background of "Little Brown Jug" and the various ways it has been performed in the past.

Interpret
Through their use of elements and structures of music, creators and performers provide clues to their expressive intent. Our students design their own response to the musical elements of "Little Brown Jug" through various means: art, movement, writing, discussing, and sharing.

Evaluate
The personal evaluation of musical works and performances is informed by analysis, interpretation, and established criteria. Students share their musical responses of dance, art, and writings they developed informally within the band or formally for an audience.
