Imagine-Plan-Make

The creative ideas, concepts, and feelings that influence our work emerge from a variety of sources. Musicians' creative choices are influenced by our expertise, context, and expressive intent. Through collaborative activities  in our rehearsals, our students can develop new musical ideas based upon the melodic and rhythmic content of "Little Brown Jug". Here students improvise and experiment with motives drawn from the music.

Evaluate-Refine

Musicians evaluate, and refine their work through openness to new ideas, persistence, and the application of appropriate criteria. Students and teachers together can improve upon the musical ideas they developed in the "imagine-plan-make" phase. Within our rehearsals students and teachers together make musical decisions to refine their composition.

Present

Musicians’ presentation of creative work is the culmination of a process of creation and communication. Here our students can present their new "Little Brown Jug" compositions in class or a more formal setting.
